Pick Up Schedule

Since 1994, the State of Michigan has banned the dumping of yard waste in its sanitary landfills. The thought was that this renewable refuse should be recycled into compost, rather than taking up space in landfills.Since then, we have required the separation of yard waste from household garbage. Two different trucks do a pick up on rubbish day.One goes to the landfill with your garbage, and the other to the compost site with your yard waste.

This year no plastic bags of any sort will be picked up for the compostable materials, even if they are biodegradable or compostable. For the convenience of our residents, Best Way Disposal has tried to allow different plastic bags in the compost site over the past several years, but each had created problems. This year, yard waste will only be picked up if it is in one of the following containers:

  • The large paper “Kraft” yard waste bags. These bags may be purchased at any department store: Roger’s, Martin’s, Ace Hardware, Lowe’s, Meijer, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc., or from Kirsch Carton. These bags hold much more than the plastic ones, and leave, grass, and small twigs can be “squished” without easily tearing them.
  • A cart. Best Way will rent out a large, wheeled cart for $25 for the season.Or, you may purchase your own cart. Please make certain that you label it “Yard Waste” so they know which truck to use for removal of its contents. Our office can provide you with labels if you need them.
  • A different plastic container, such as a plastic garbage can with a lid. Again, please make sure it’s labeled as “Yard Waste”.

Please note that Best Way Disposal is not responsible for damage done to garbage receptacles.
