The St. Joseph Charter Township Police Department is a full service Police Department operating 365 days a year. It is responsible for the protection of life and property; the enforcement of all laws; the apprehension of criminals; and the prevention of crime.

The police department was founded in April 1973 and currently employs 11 full time sworn officers; 1 full time civilian employee; and 1 part time civilian employee.

Administrative office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (except holidays). Officers are dispatched 24 hours a day by the Berrien County Communications Center.
